Background of Nørrebronx

Nørrebronx (ø =oe) is the peoples nickname for the tough
Copenhagen (Denmark) district of Nørrebro, where the
fierceness of Bronx, New York is scaled to danish proportions.
There are hustlers, hookers and flaneurs in an americanized,
Schumpeterian Workfarestate, where global subcultures
gather in their ghetto, that ironically means freedom from
some conventions of society through the same ethnic
diversity, that is proclaimed to be a problem from large part
of contemporary danish society.

Nørrebro is a fien de siecle brownstonequarter for workers, that
got bohemien inhabitants like Jens, Idries and Amanda, the main
characters of the comic Nørrebronx. Their life after the Milenneium
mirrors the globalized life of people in many big cities around the
world - The Bronx, Kreuzberg in Berlin, or Nørrebro - They all
have the same kind of problems like unemployment and a high
crime rate, but there is still a difference, because every big city is
unique in the way it functions and which lifestyles it provides.
